BLINDS

Blinds

Blinds, as window treatments, date back almost a thousand years. Their staying power speaks both to the functionality of their design and the versatility of their style. Blinds can enhance privacy, increase energy efficiency, improve light control, and optimize airflow of an interior space, and they are easy and straightforward to use. So as a window treatment, blinds have a universal appeal that makes them desirable for residential and business properties. Modern blinds from Hunter Douglas come in a variety of designs, including both horizontal (Venetian) and vertical styles. Here, we will discuss the benefits of horizontal blinds.

Hunter Douglas Venetian Blinds (Horizontal Blinds)

Venetian blinds have horizontal slats hung one under another to cover the height of the window. They are often referred to as Venetian blinds instead of horizontal blinds because it was the Venetians who incited the global popularity of this style of window coverings in the 1700s. There are several operating systems for Venetian blinds, but the most common is a corded system where the blind is raised and lowered using a cord. Venetian blinds are also low-maintenance window treatments, as cleaning simply involves regular dusting. Hunter Douglas offers several high-quality Venetian blinds, including traditional wood blinds, alternative faux wood blinds, and metal horizontal blinds:

Parkland® Wood Blinds

The elite, top-of-the-line wooden blinds from Hunter Douglas are the Parkland® Wood Blinds, made of 100% real wood from ethically managed forests. These wooden blinds are available in a profusion of colors and bring a warm, classic feel to the space.

EverWood® Faux Wood Blinds

Faux wood blinds, like Hunter Douglas EverWood® Faux Wood Blinds, use cutting-edge composites and new-age material to add durability and longevity to the beauty and charm of traditional wooden blinds. Because of their resiliency, faux wood blinds are great for places with high humidity or lots of harsh, direct sunlight.

Modern Precious Metals® Mini Blinds

When Hunter Douglas patented the lightweight aluminum slat for horizontal blinds in 1946, they revolutionized the widow treatment creating a product not only popular for homes but offices and commercial buildings as well. Over the years, the designs and materials have been refined, and today Hunter Douglas Modern Precious Metals® Mini Blinds are the chic and sleek contemporary version of traditional aluminum window blinds available in almost endless colors and finishes, which makes them one of the most universally useful types of blinds.

Operational Systems and Features

Hunter Douglas offers horizontal and vertical blinds with several different operating systems (including manual and motorized options) and unique light-blocking features.

Traditional Corded Blinds

Traditional window blinds operate with a cord and pulley system. The cord is run through holes on the side of the slats, and by pulling the cord blinds can be opened or closed. Traditional blinds typically also have the ability to rotate the slats - without having to open or close the entire blind - up to 180° using a wand hook and tilt gear.

Cordless Blinds

For a more pet-friendly and child-safe operating system, Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation is compatible with most Hunter Douglas blinds. The motorization of blinds negates the need for a pull cord, thus improving its safety around young children and pets who can get caught up or strangled by hanging cords. Not only does PowerView® Automation turn traditional blinds into safer, cordless blinds, it also offers a plethora of additional features like remote control or voice control for easier operation, automatic scheduling options for increased efficiency, and even the option to integrate PowerView® Automation with smart-home technology for maximum control and ease of use.
